History

In the summer of 1993, Buzzie and Brenda Hughes and his family quietly opened the first Buzzie’s location in Comfort, Texas. By the time the famous store burned down many years later, Buzzie had opened the now famous Kerrville store on Schreiner St. Few knew the hard road and huge obstacles these strong entrepreneurs would face to realize their American Dream.

Continued Growth

The realization of Buzzie and Brenda Hughes’ dream far exceeded anything they had ever imagined. Buzzie Hughes realized that to continue to grow and prosper, Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q needed to restructure its management and its business model. Buzzie decided the franchise business model was the best choice for growth. This decision has allowed Buzzie and Brenda to focus on Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q products and quality, while continuing to maintain an important role in senior operations. Today, there are many applicants being considered to become franchisees of this exciting and rewarding concept. Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q anticipates new stores to be developed in Tyler, Victoria, Uvalde, San Marcos and Abilene.

A Unique Specialty Food Service Concept

Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q is confident they have created a specialty food service concept unique to today’s franchise market. The menu, while simple and easy to manage, has received exceptional reviews by an overwhelming majority of guests and media. Buzzie’s Bar-B-Q won the prestigious title of Texas Monthly Magazine “BEST BRISKET IN THE STATE OF TEXAS” in 2010. Original and flavorful products, coupled with a casual dining atmosphere, appeal to a broad audience of consumers, from youth and families to couples and the elderly. There is an ever-growing market for catering parties and for take-out.
